Plinths that play on contrast

Let's face it: they aren't the first things you think of when you imagine creating your dream kitchen. If Ikea's design software wasn't there to remind us, we might even forget about them all together. But placed underneath your base cabinets, plinths can be useful for adding the finishing touch or hiding unsightly legs. And what if we made them a decorative piece in their own right? Colour, metallic, lacquer, brass, wood...? Plinths play on contrasts and will spruce up any kitchen. Proof in the pudding.

The biggest challenge of an open kitchen? Blending in with the decor. This layout has succeeded, embodying all the codes of the flat and giving it a built-in bookcase look. Here, the splashback and plinth are covered in shiny stainless steel for a mirror effect that reflects the herringbone parquet and gives the impression of a floating kitchen. Even the black kitchen island appears lighter?

50 shades of wood

From the parquet floors to the splashback and shelves, wood is the common theme of this open kitchen. So it's no coincidence that the plinth was chosen in the same vein, allowing the cabinet frames to blend into the decor. The fronts, in a shade similar to our Blue 05 - Bleu paon, match perfectly with the honey colour of the wood. A well-balanced combination, to be re-created with the materials of your liking.
